Poems: Grape and Wine

‘Ground’

Dan Hillier (1973 - 2024)

You are not unlike the shore of the sea:

arriving, here, going

repeatedly.

God is not unlike the beat of the drum:

silence, sound, song

  repeatedly.

                                                                                  ~

Blind beggar

palm outstretched for alms,

sunflower face tilted upwards

embraced by golden rays

you are struck by the blessed scene

he seems to have something

you do not-

He has it for free.
