poem: landscaping Eden

GIRL IN RAIN, 1991, PAUL D’AMATO

From the bird I draw an egg

From the beast becomes a cosy bed

The moon arrives to me a silent friend

I am not alone

I am holy

I am not a girl

I am whole

light lantern dark fright

when death takes my soul

I will ask of its weight

rolling like thunder or light as a feather.
