Poem: Freedom is a big word

4 aventures de Reinette et Mirabelle, Éric Rohmer, 1986

I was 16 when I thought this is a life I can live in
Lying in a bed, head against the
 glorious outward.

A poem is a feeling
This is freedom
The moment I could I ran,
Bye momma,
See ya later daddy
Catch the fire off my tail
Chains cut, insane in the membrane.
But I remember my little escapes
To the next town, on the bus, or on train
Where my insane would harvest, reap and sow other people’s happy pain
Baby bird ready for feed
Damn sail broke
Can’t see
Can’t breathe
